Episode 4: A New Low

I just saw an advertisement which had Paris Hilton wearing a P Diddy "Vote or Die" shirt. I'm sure she did it because she cares about the issues, not because it's fashionably "in."

I'll be in Endicott this weekend.

I was talking to this guy who is in some of my teaching classes and his roommate got an invite to the FHM Hometown Honeys party in Buffalo. WTF?!?! I have a subscription too, why didn't I get invited? This is very lame, very lame.

Want a pizza party!?!

Like the above post wasn't random enough.

Core

Geico makes some really good commercials. I just saw one for the "Tiny House" reality show. It was hilarious.

Now it's time for a new segment called "Wolf Explains:"

This comes out of the observations that I have made, which lead me to believe that the world sometimes needs Da Wolfman to explain what is going on.

Wolf Explains: "Core"

Old School Hardcore - Started arguably in the very early 1980s with bands such as Bad Brains, Minor Threat, Black Flag, Sick of it All, and Rollins Band. There was a desire to be harder than the punk bands of the day.

New School Hardcore - Started arguably in the 1990s with bands such as Shai Hulud and Strongarm. Made hardcore more than just repeated powerchords and doublebass.

Hip-Hop Core - Candiria. The first was Bad Brains with their reggae influenced hardcore. I think Body Count could go here as it is headed by a rapper.

Mathcore - Some people consider Norma Jean mathcore. I don't like mathcore, so neither should you.

Godcore/Christcore/JCXHC (Jesus Christ X Hardcore) - Ummm well, if you can't tell, this is hardcore with a heavy Christian message. This goes beyond "Christians in a band" and goes into "Bands in Christ." Strongarm, Zao, Officer Negative, Focal Point, etc. Can be annoying, can be amazing. A band like Strongarm has influenced hardcore in a very positive way.

Earth's core - Center of the Earth.

Crap core - Limp Bizkit and Korn. Stay away, stay far away,

Pop core - Story of the Year. Stay away, stay far away.

Metalcore - As I Lay Dying, Avenged Sevenfold, some people say Shai Hulud and Strongarm, but those people are idiots. Zao and Killswitch Engage would also fall into this category. Typically metal music with hardcore vocals (metal and hardcore sort od came out of each other, so this is a natural pairing)

Softcore/Indiecore - Longdrive (wink, wink) and the Hurt Process. Indie with yelling/screaming and break downs.

Softcore/Screamo (Emo core) - Hawthorne Heights, old Piebald. Emo with yelling/screaming and break downs.

Softcore/Rockcore - Beloved, Emery, etc. Good stuff. Rock with yelling/screamig and break downs.

Punk core - New Stretch Arm Strong is very Punk with a core edge. Punk with yelling/screaming and break downs.

Skacore - Mighty, Mighty Bosstones. Ska and hardcore.

Humor core - Sam Kinison.

So for anyone who ever wanted to know a little bit about "core," there ya go!

Random:

The only reason I wrote that out was because I was thinking it on the way to school today and wanted to write it down. Also, I wanted to introduce the whole "Wolf Explains:" idea.

Shorty

People who wear shirts that say "Itaca is gorges" should be shot. People who have bumperstickers that say "Ithaca is gorges" should be shot. People who think the saying "Ithaca is gorges" is funny should be shot.

My mom is moving this coming weekend, so I will be in Endicott then.

I've been having deja vu a lot lately. I think my psychic powers are coming in nicely.

Dan and I went to see Team America on Thursday. We both agreed that it was hilarious. Tom, I think if you did see it a second time you will appreciate it more.

Mary and I saw the Grudge last night. It was pretty good. I jumped once, which is more often than most horror movies because I am so tough that I don't get scared.

I got my voter registration approval/polling place for Erie County yesterday. I vote at the same school I am observing at, so that is good because it is right down the road.

I ordered some cds from Amazon the other day. They are:
Underoath
Dead Poetic
Both Strongarm full lengths (the hardcore band who later became Further Seems Forever, shared a drummer with Shai Hulud on all of Hulud's full length albums)
H2O (one of their older, hardcore albums)

The Weak's End

So, I here I haven't updated in a while (which is true, but I wil get to that later). But to those who have said that I need to update more, I say, start your own blog! The only person I know who does one is Dan, and he updates less than I do. So stop bitching and make your own so that I can read it.

Anyway, I have been busy lately, and that is why I have not updated. As you may remember my car window was smashed, and three weekends ago I went to Endicott to fix it with my dad. It went well and is all fixed. It only took about 2 hours to do and cost only 18 bucks. I got to hang out with Matt, Kris, Jim and Kim which was fun.

Two weekends ago I went to a state park in Ohio with Mary's family (her extended family). It was pretty fun. I ate a lot and slept very little. I did get to play some volleyball, which I haven't really done since MoonSkuad gym classes, so that was obviously awesome. We went to feed these carp that are bred in a lake near the park and it was crazy how many carp came to the feeding stations. It looked like a carp orgy.

Last weekend, for the most part, we had no power at the apartment, which sucked. I spent a lot of time at the library and not eating food from the fridge. I went to Mary's house Saturday night and ate a mini-Thanksgiving dinner. It was soooo good (it doesn't help anything that I am starving right now).

I started the last of my classroom observations yesterday. I think that they are going to go well.

It looks like Halloween weekend I will be in Endicott to help my mom move. So that will be cool.

The Sugarcult, New Found Glory and Green Day concert is coming up! Also, I just read today that Reel Big Fish are playing in Buffalo in November!

The posse seems to be at a standstill right now with no new membership taking its toll. However, I feel we are still tough and are projecting strength. So that is good.

I shaved my neck yesterday and now it is all prickly.

My aunt sent me a care package for Halloween. Tons of candy and homemade cookie bars and decorations. Good stuff,

I can't think of anymore. Sorry.

Random:

I bought some Clearisil pads for my face.

I'm listening to Shai Hulud.

No one likes you.
